Laboratory Worktops

We have over 35 years of experience machining, jointing and installing Trespa® solid grade laminate, Velstone, and Iroko, beech, and other hard woods. In addition, we also design, supply, and install epoxy resin surfaces.

Long-Lasting

Science Lab Worktops

Choosing a lab worktop that’s suitable for your application is key to the longevity of your lab furniture. At APMG we only use top quality materials, and our expert design team can guide you to the ideal work surface for your laboratory or classroom.

We understand the importance of stain vs scratch and wear resistance. We look at the chemicals and the types of apparatus likely to be used. As a result, we match functionality with design, budget and timescales. Ask us what would be best for your application.

Trespa® for Science Lab Worktops

Our default science lab worktop is Trespa® TopLab® solid grade laminate, which we recommend due to its impact, moisture and chemical resistance. These lab work surfaces have a closed surface that is hygienic, sturdy and easy to clean. They also come in a wide range of attractive colours.

When specifying a Trespa® lab worktop, choosing the correct one for your needs is crucial to its performance.

Trespa® TopLab®PLUS Lab Worktops

Laboratory settings demand compliance to rigorous codes and standards. Trespa® TopLab®PLUS is SEFA-3 tested and certified according to international standards.

TopLab®PLUS has been developed for use where hygiene, avoidance of contamination, sustainability, and safety are of importance. As such, it makes an ideal lab worktop in, for example, cleanrooms; chemical, physical and analytical laboratories; and other highly demanding environments.

  • Excellent resistance to most aggressive chemicals and cleaning agents
  • Excellent hygiene performance – suitable for most disinfectants on the market
  • Durable and impact resistant
  • Scratch and wear resistance
  • High dimensional stability
  • Easy to clean
  • Suitable for contact with food

Trespa® TopLab®BASE Lab Worktops

Trespa® TopLab®BASE is developed specifically for functional and scientific applications. It is suitable for lab worktops and classroom worktops where impact resistance is of great importance whereas chemical resistance is not critical.

It delivers excellent resistance to wear and tear and is ideal where severe use and frequent cleaning is anticipated, as the surface is not adversely affected by moisture.

  • Greater performance with durability and impact resistance
  • Scratch and wear resistance
  • High dimensional stability
  • Easy to clean
  • Suitable for contact with food

Iroko and Hard Wood Lab Worktops

Iroko is a tough, dense and durable wood which resists acids, solvents and heat. This makes it ideal for science lab worktops, particularly chemistry and physics. An advantage of hardwood and Iroko laboratory worktops is that they can be refurbished simply by sanding and re-treating.

Iroko in particular has a high oil content, giving it natural antibiotic properties. While it can be more porous than some man-made materials, even when dirty it can harbour fewer microbes.

APMG’s Iroko, beech and other hardwood lab worktops are all sustainably sourced. Hardwoods can be difficult to work with, but we have the machining skills and experience to deliver perfectly crafted products with these materials.

Epoxy Laboratory Worktops

Epoxy Resin is a popular laboratory worktop material that offers a valuable combination of features and benefits. It is durable and highly resistant to many acids, solvents, and other inert chemicals.

In addition, it is mechanically strong and, because it is manufactured to have a seamless surface, it is easily cleaned and decontaminated. Typically, our clients choose epoxy lab worktops with a bunded edge to contain spills.

Velstone Laboratory Worktops

APMG has considerable experience with 25mm thick Velstone Lab Worktops. Velstone is a high-end, solid material manufactured using a blend of natural minerals, pigments and polyester resin. It is non-porous, chemically resistant and fire retardant – therefore ideal for lab worktops, particularly where fire-related performance is imperative.

Scratches can be polished out, stains can be easily removed, and accidental damage is repairable. It has been certified for use in environments where public health & hygiene is paramount.

Our team of craftsmen is experienced in machining and invisible jointing Velstone work surfaces. We have fitted it in laboratories, food technology and art classrooms, and cafeterias. Check out our case study here.

Laminate Science Lab Worktops

We don’t use laminate for lab worktops as it can easily scratch and chip. Just as we don’t use chipboard in the construction of any of our lab furniture. APMG products are built to perform.
