Horizontal Packed Bed Cross-Flow Fume Scrubber
Our Horizontal Packed Bed fume scrubber is particularly suited to uses where multiple stage scrubbing is required. It is also ideal where headroom is limited.
APMG has decades of experience in the design, manufacture and installation of fume scrubbers. We know precisely which fume scrubber will achieve the required outcome for extract applications.

Horizontal Packed Bed fume scrubber
Our Horizontal Packed Bed fume scrubber has the added advantage of minimising pressure drop. This is due to its cross-flow design.
This also allows lower irrigation rates, reducing liquor and power consumption.
A typical application of our horizontal fume scrubber is the two-stage control of odours from by-product or food processing units. In many cases acid/alkali scrubbing is followed by oxidation or simple water washing to achieve the desired outlet concentrations.
Gas enters the unit via a flanged inlet connection to be cooled and saturated by liquor (recycle) from the front bed sprays. These remove dust, cool the gas and keep the front face of the bed free from solids.
The gas then passes horizontally through one or more series of packed beds, which are irrigated from above. This allows the gas to be washed with chemically different liquids if required.
Disentrainment of liquor is achieved by passing the gas through a dry section of packing prior to exiting via the stack/fan in a clean but saturated condition. The base of the unit forms an integral recycle tank. We vary the dimensions to suit individual space limitations.
APMG designs, manufactures and installs an extensive range of ductwork and vent fittings. These are fabricated in-house to complement our ranges of corrosion resistant extract fans.
All pipework is manufactured to meet HVAC DW/154 Specification for Plastics Ductwork. This is the premier specification for PVC and PP-S ducting.
